Chapter Opportunities

This program has 10U (Ages 7-10), 13U (Ages 7-13) and 17U (Ages 14-17) divisions. Participants play 3-hole (10U) or 9-hole (13U & 17U) matches in two player teams using a scramble format, and our chapter has teams at Bob O’Connor (Pittsburgh) in addition to our programming locations at All About Golf (Butler) and Victory Hills (Elizabeth). The 13U teams play home and away games throughout the regular season, and both the 13U and 17U divisions send an All-Star team to represent the chapter in the postseason competition
within the Tri-State PGA Section. Registration for the Spring/Summer program began on January 20 and closes March 31, and registration for the Fall program begins on July 28 and ends on August 31.

Junior Advisory Board members work with First Tee Pittsburgh staff to guide the organization’s future, and provide long-term strategic guidance in designing, creating, and supporting participant activities. Participants must be at least 13 years old and must have been actively enrolled in programming classes for at least two years.

The Women’s Golf Association of Western Pennsylvania hosts this annual event for Girls Ages 8-18 at Oakmont Country Club on Thursday, May 7, 2025. Online registration opens March 15, 2025, at 3:00 PM, and the clinic is limited to 70 participants. The cost is $50 per person which includes snacks, favors, instruction, group photo and a putting contest. Participants MUST register prior to the clinic, and all attendees, parents and guardians must observe the club’s dress code. Contact Coach Leslie Russell ([email protected]) for more information.

Held throughout May, June, July and August at private clubs in the greater Pittsburgh area, these events give skilled participants ages 13 and older the chance to play and practice in conditions that they might not normally encounter. In the past, we have had practice sessions at Allegheny, Edgewood, Oakmont, Longue Vue, Fox Chapel and Westmoreland. The chapter hosts Participant Invitational tournaments on select Saturdays throughout the year at the Bob. The 2025 events are scheduled for June 21 (Spring), August 23 (Summer) and October 18 (Fall). Each of these events has four divisions – 3-Hole (Short), 3-Hole (Long), 6-Hole and 9-Hole – and each division has a Boys and Girls champion. Participants choose their division when registering for the event.

First Tee Ambassadors represent the Pittsburgh chapter at events throughout the year, including the Pittsburgh Golf Show (February 21-23), the Golf Classic (July 28) and Tee It Forward (September 6). Participants selected to be a First Tee Ambassador must consistently demonstrate the Five Key Commitments to Becoming a Game Changer and be able to interact with adults at an age-appropriate level.
