First Tee – Pittsburgh is excited to announce that our “Purposeful Practice” sessions have once again been added to our calendar of local participant opportunities this year.

Here are the general guidelines for the Purposeful Practice sessions:

Participants: We will have 8-12 FTP participants, ages 13-17, at each Purposeful Practice event.

Time: Arrival time is 4:45 pm, activities begin at 5:00 pm, and we’ll conclude at 8:00 pm.

Activities: Half of the group (4-6 kids) will play 9 holes, while the other half will utilize the practice areas of the club.

Requirements: Participants MUST be able to walk and play 9 holes in two hours or less to play the golf course. The maximum score on any hole will be “double par,” and pace of play will be of paramount importance.

Northern Interclub Qualifying: Rounds posted in the Purposeful Practice events will be used as part of the “qualifying criteria” for our Northern Interclub team, which is scheduled to play at Shannopin Country Club on Thursday, July 18.

We are currently working on securing additional Purposeful Practice event dates at additional facilities in June and July, and they will all have the same format. We have three Purposeful Practice events lined up for May:

  • Thursday, May 9, 2024 – Edgewood Country Club
  • Wednesday, May 15, 2024 – Longue Vue Club
  • Wednesday, May 22, 2024 – Fox Chapel Golf Club

Our goal is to have as many FTP 13–17-year-olds as possible experience one “play” day and one “practice” day during this schedule. In order to do this, we are asking you to complete this FORM to provide your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice for each “Purposeful Practice” session. In addition, we are able to provide transportation to each one in the FTP van, but you must be at the APLC by 3:45pm to allow for traffic getting to the golf course.
