LPGA/USGA Girls Golf at First Tee Pittsburgh

Through engaging instruction and life skill development, girls golf participants learn to lead, persevere, and believe in themselves both on and off the course.

A fun, welcoming space where girls build confidence on and off the course. Through engaging golf instruction and meaningful life skill activities, participants learn more than just how to swing a club. They develop leadership, resilience, and friendships that last well beyond the season.

Whether brand new to golf or already experienced, every girl is encouraged to come as she is. We provide the equipment, the coaching, and the positive environment. Girls bring their energy, curiosity, and courage.

At its heart, Girls Golf is about empowering girls to believe in themselves, support one another, and discover just how capable they truly are.

The LPGA-USGA “is the only national junior golf program that specializes in providing girl-friendly environments for juniors to learn the game of golf”. Girls Golf is a perfect complement to First Tee’s mission to teach valuable life skills, such as confidence and perseverance, to the youth in our communities! By becoming a Girls Golf site, First Tee – Pittsburgh provides an outlet specifically for our girls to feel safe to fail and empowered to learn!

Our Girls Golf teaches valuable life skills that can help girls as they become leaders. Through our personal growth and junior golf programs, we encourage girls to build self-confidence that they’ll carry with them into their future.  Our programs are fun, enjoyable and engaging with focus on skill development, social events and team-building activities. Our goal is to provide each member with the skills, etiquette, safety and rules knowledge they need to be comfortable when the time comes to play on the course and in events.

Girls Golf programs teach more than just stance and swing. Through our connection with the USGA (the governing body of the game of golf) Girls Golf members also gain a deeper understanding rules, history, and science behind the game of golf. Girls Golf members who aspire to compete in college or on Tour are also connected with resources and education to help them reach their goals.

Studies have shown that women leaders are engaging and collaborative, yet it hasn’t always been easy for women to break into many top leadership roles and Golf can help.

Ninety percent of Fortune 500 CEOs play golf, according to the PGA of America, and more than half of all businesspeople believe golf is a valuable networking tool. Women executives believe that a background in sport was helpful to career advancement because it prepared them to work better in teams, and behaviors and techniques can be applied to the corporate setting (Women’s Sports Foundation).
