Junior Coach Leadership Pathway (Ages 13+)
First Tee – Pittsburgh offers year-round programming at five locations across the Pittsburgh region, creating meaningful leadership opportunities for teens who want to grow the game while developing real-world skills.Our Junior Coach program is designed for participants ages 13+ who are ready to mentor younger players, build confidence, and serve as positive role models both on and off the course.
Our Goal
To develop young leaders who build confidence, communication skills, and character—while helping younger participants create a lifelong connection to golf and First Tee and community service.
Program Engagement Opportunities
- Indoor Clinics & Classes Assist with instruction, skill stations, attendance, and student engagement while helping maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
- PGA Jr. League Support team practices and match days, mentor younger players, assist with organization and logistics, and model sportsmanship.
- Summer Camp Work alongside staff to deliver multi-day camps, supervise activities, support group management, and encourage teamwork and life skills development.
- Special Events & Invitationals Assist with First Tee – Pittsburgh’s three annual invitationals and outreach events, supporting registration, setup, participant coordination, and on-course operations.
Leadership Development Pathway
1. Junior Volunteer (13+) – Learn leadership fundamentals while assisting coaches and serving as a positive role model.
2. Intern / Advanced Volunteer (15+) – Take on greater responsibility in mentoring, organization, and programsupport.
3. Assistant Coach (16+) – Help lead lessons and activities while supporting overall program goals as part of the coaching team.
Commitment & Training
Junior Coaches complete orientation and training to ensure safe, high-quality program delivery. Opportunities are available year-round, with flexible seasonal scheduling aligned with clinics, PGA Jr. League, camps, and events.
A Volunteer Program for First Tee- Pittsburgh and LPGA/ USGA Girls Golf Members!
The eLeader program is a new national volunteer and mentorship opportunity for advocates, ages 13 – 18, who are looking for ways to give back to help their local program. In addition to making a difference in your community, you’ll build professional and leadership skills that will help you prepare for life beyond high school.
Enrolling as an eLeader is the perfect way to earn volunteer service hours and gain experience in teaching, marketing, event/tournament management, communication and technology, alongside First Tee- Participants. Not to mention, your service as a Girls Golf eLeader makes a great addition to your resume and college application!
